PPI Open Evening

As part of the Northern Ireland Biobank’s strategy for personal and public involvement (PPI) in biobanking, members of the NI Cancer Research Consumer Forum were invited to an open evening on Thursday 27 February 2015 to launch the setting up of a Northern Ireland Biobank PPI Focus Group.

Dr Jackie James, Director of the NIB talked about the biobank’s progress to date and plans for raising awareness of biobanking across Northern Ireland. Guest speaker Professor Manuel Salto-Tellez discussed the key role of biobanking in the success of local cancer research programmes and the CCRCB molecular pathology programme in particular.

The NICRCF members had a tour of the laboratory and biobank storage facility and there was plenty of opportunity for questions. The NIB is very grateful to the members of the NICR CF for their very positive feedback.
